12 Handy Things To Know About The 12th Electric Picnic
It started as a one-day 'boutique music and arts festival' in 2004, the same year X Factor began and was won by some guy called Steve Brookstein.
Well over a decade on, it's now the biggest music festival in the country, with 48,500 people expected to dance their way through the weekend.
So in honour of its 12th year, and just for general handiness sake, here are 12 things you should probably know about Electric Picnic 2015.
1. This is its biggest year; there will be over 5,000 more people there compared to last year, and 10,000 more than 2 years ago. 48,500 music fans and about 4,000 workers if you must know.
2. It's all about being green this year. There are lots of ways organisers are asking you to help out. A drink will cost you an extra 20c, but you can claim the money back. Here's how and why.
3. Unlike most other festivals and gigs, selfie sticks are not banned.

4. The weather is supposed to be decent enough. According to YR, there is no chance of rain. We're still bringing the wellies and mac, though.
5. There are buses from Dublin to Stradbally, and they'll bring you home too. More on public transport here. If you're driving, this will be the first journey to the Picnic you'll make on the new Newland's Cross flyover.

6. Campsites open at 9am Friday 4th September and close at 1pm Monday 7th September. The trek out is always lighter. You've eaten/drank most of what you carried in.
7. Underworld headline the Main Stage Friday, Blur do the honours Saturday, and Florence + The Machine will close the party on Sunday. You can see stage times here.
8. You won't see Jessie Ware though. She's had to pull out for 'scheduling reasons'. Tough, love.
9. There's a new thing called the Magic Mush Room. Sounds a bit dodge, but it's where you can catch the lovely Shane Gillen doing a few tricks.
10. There'll be some animals to hug your fear away. My Lovely Ranch is run by the My Lovely Horse Rescue.
11. You can get your festival outfit washed this year, in the Surf laundry. They'll give you a lovely boilersuit to wear while you wait about 40 minutes.
12. Finally, if you've been before - you shouldn't get lost. They layout is almost identical to recent years, including room for a few extra tents and toilets. Perfect!
