11 Arrested And Stolen Goods Recovered In Major Operation On M1
11 people were arrested and stolen goods recovered in a major operation on the M1 in Balbriggan early Sunday morning.
The sting was set up by gardai investigating organised crime gangs using the M1.
The 6 checkpoints were set up as part of Operation Thor between 2am and 7am.
Local gardai were involved along with the Armed Support Unit, Detective, Traffic and Burglary units, customs officers and staff from the National Transport Authority.
11 people were arrested, 9 for drink driving and one for public order offences.
A man in his 30s were arrested and charged following the discovery of five suspected stolen bicycles and thirteen laptops in a van stopped on the hard shoulder.
In another search of the immediate area, a bike believed to be stolen was also found in a ditch.
He's due to appear at Swords District Court at a later date.
12 cars were seized for road traffic offences, 214 drivers were breath tested and over 40 cars searched.
